Firearms Purchasing Restrictions- AB 1483 - Effective January 1st, 2025

California Assembly Bill 1483 (AB 1483), introduces changes to firearm purchase regulations effective January 1, 2025. Specifically, the bill eliminates the existing exemption that allowed private party transactions to bypass the prohibition on purchasing more than one firearm within a 30-day period. This means that individuals in California will be restricted to purchasing only one firearm every 30 days, regardless of whether the transaction is through a private party or a licensed dealer.

Additionally, AB 1483 creates specific exemptions to this 30-day restriction. These exemptions apply to private party transfers where the seller is legally required to relinquish all firearms due to state law or court order, and to transfers resulting from the death of the firearm's owner.

Our Take: This is another unnecessary attack on law abiding gun owners in California. Those who abide by the law aren’t the ones causing problems, yet they will be the only ones impacted by this legislature. While we don’t agree with this legislature, we do encourage all gun-owners to abide by the law and be above reproach. Fight back with your vote and continue to make your voices heard! - Zac
