Demonizing America's Favorite Guns - Senate Bill 3 - February 18th, 2025

The Colorado state Senate has passed Senate Bill 3, which aims to ban the manufacture, sale, and purchase of certain semi automatic firearms, including AR-15s, AK-47s, and shotguns and pistols with magazines exceeding 15 rounds. Current owners would retain possession rights, but future transactions involving these firearms would be prohibited. The bill also seeks to ban aftermarket accessories that increase a firearm's rate of fire. To address concerns, an amendment allows potential buyers to obtain these firearms after completing extensive background checks and safety training. The bill now moves to the House, where it is expected to pass, and Governor Jared Polis has indicated support for the legislation.

Our Take: This is a clear breach of our Second Amendment rights. ARs, AKs, and guns modeled after those are loved and safely enjoyed by millions in the USA. Passing this bill will have a major negative impact on those who use these guns, or wish to use these guns, as a way of protecting their families, land, or themselves.
